Faith Map Plus vs Free: What Is Included?

Most people who find this page are asking one practical question: do I need to pay to use this app properly? The short answer is no. Reading, learning, and daily prayer practice are free. Plus is about listening and convenience, and this article lays out exactly where the line sits, in plain terms, so you can decide without guessing.

The short answer

Faith Map is built on a simple rule: the core of every faith practice should not sit behind a paywall. Scripture reading is free. Lessons are free. The daily tools that people build a routine around are free.

Plus adds a layer on top of that free core. It is mostly about audio: hearing chapters read aloud, hearing guided prayers, and taking that listening offline. If you never press play, you may never need it.

You will never pay to pray, read scripture, or find a place to worship.

What is free

Here is the free side of the comparison, in full.

Reading and learning

  • Scripture libraries for all ten tracks. Every faith track in the app can be read in full, free: the Christian, Catholic, and Orthodox Bibles, the Tanakh and Jewish texts, the Qur'an, the Book of Mormon, the Guru Granth Sahib in translation, the Dhammapada, the Bhagavad Gita, and the other libraries each track includes.
  • All lessons. The guided lesson paths for every track are free, including the map-style progress, streaks, and the small daily steps that help a habit form. Nothing in the learning path is held back for paying members.
  • No account tricks. You do not need a subscription to open a chapter, finish a lesson, or keep a streak going.

The daily practice tools

Each track has a flagship daily practice, built for how adherents of that tradition actually practice, and each one is free.

  • Islam: prayer times calculated from your own location, a Qibla compass, morning and evening adhkar, and a tasbih counter.
  • Judaism: Shabbat times, the weekly parashah reading portion, a Hebrew calendar, and daily Tehillim.
  • Catholicism: a guided Rosary that follows the mysteries of the day, and Sunday Mass reading references.
  • Orthodoxy: morning and evening prayers and a tappable prayer rope.
  • Hinduism: a panchang-lite daily almanac and the Gayatri mantra for daily recitation.
  • Buddhism: a sitting meditation timer and the Uposatha lunar observance days.
  • Sikhism: Nitnem, the daily prayers, offered by time of day.
  • Every track: kids prayers kept inside each tradition's own section, a worship finder that helps you locate a nearby congregation or place of worship, and Prayer Time stillness for a quiet pause.

Listening that is already free

One distinction matters here, because it is easy to miss. Listening to the prayer library is free. Guided prayers in the prayer library do not require Plus. What Plus covers is chapter narration, which is a different and much larger library, described below.

What Plus adds

Plus is an elevation layer. It does not unlock reading, lessons, or prayer. It adds listening, offline access, and deeper tools for people who want them.

  • Chapter-audio narration. Narration of 3,841 chapters across the app's scripture libraries, read in a consistent narrator voice. This is the heart of Plus: you can listen to a chapter on a walk, in the car, or while your hands are busy, instead of only reading it on screen.
  • Guided prayer audio. Spoken, guided versions of prayers, so you can pray along with a voice rather than reading alone.
  • Offline narration. Download chapter audio and listen without a connection, which matters for flights, commutes with poor signal, and quiet places where you would rather leave the network off.
  • Playback power. Control over how listening feels, including playback speed and a sleep timer, so a chapter can play at your pace or wind down as you fall asleep.
  • Advanced plans and stats. Deeper reading plans and fuller statistics on your progress, for people who like to see patterns in their practice over months, not just days.

That is the whole list. If a feature is not named here or in the free lists above, it is either not in the app yet or covered in the next section.

Coming soon, labeled honestly

Three Plus features are in development and are not available yet. They are listed here so nobody subscribes expecting them today.

  • Widgets for a home screen glance at the day's reading or prayer time.
  • Kids Mode profiles, so children in a family can have their own age-appropriate space.
  • An AI companion for questions and guided reflection.

When these arrive, they will be described as available. Until then, they are plans, not features, and the honest reason to consider Plus today is the audio and offline listening that already exist.

Prices, and one membership for every track

Plus is priced simply, and the same membership covers the whole app.

  • Monthly: $7.99 per month.
  • Yearly: $59.99 per year.
  • Lifetime: $149.99, paid once.

The monthly and yearly subscriptions come with a 7-day free trial, so you can listen for a week and decide with real experience rather than a description. The lifetime option is a single payment for permanent Plus.

One point is worth stating clearly, because many multi-tradition apps do it differently: one membership covers every track. You never pay per religion. A member who reads the Bible in the morning and studies the Qur'an or the Gita in the evening uses the same single membership for all of it. There are no per-track charges and no separate unlocks by tradition.

If you want to look at the options directly, the details live on the Faith Map Plus page.

How to decide

Stay free if you read on screen, follow lessons, and use the daily practice tools. That experience is complete, and it is the experience most people use every day.

Consider Plus if listening is how you actually take in scripture: while walking, driving, cooking, or settling down at night. In that case the narration library, offline downloads, speed control, and sleep timer are the real difference, and the 7-day free trial on the subscriptions exists so you can test exactly that.

Either way, the free core does not shrink. Your faith is beautiful, and the tools for reading and praying should be open to you whether or not you ever pay.

Frequently asked questions

Is scripture reading really free, or is it a trial?

Reading is free, not a trial. The scripture libraries for all ten tracks, all lessons, streaks, and the daily practice flagships such as prayer times, the Rosary, the prayer rope, Shabbat and parashah tools, the panchang, Uposatha days, and Nitnem are free to use without a subscription, and prayer-library listening is free as well.

What does Plus add that free does not have?

Plus adds listening and depth: chapter-audio narration across 3,841 chapters, guided prayer audio, offline narration, playback controls including speed and a sleep timer, and advanced plans and stats. Widgets, Kids Mode profiles, and an AI companion are in development and are not available yet.

Do I need a separate membership for each religion?

No. One Plus membership covers every track in the app, with no per-religion charges. The same is true of the free tier: you can read and learn across traditions without separate accounts or unlocks for each one.
