Faith Map Family Seats: How Sharing a Lifetime Membership Works

This page explains one specific part of Faith Map: Family Seats. It is a factual guide, not a pitch. It covers what Family Seats are, who can share them, how a member activates a seat, what the owner can change, and what each member gets. If you own a Lifetime membership, or have been given a code, the steps below are the whole process.

What Family Seats are

Family Seats are included with a Faith Map Plus Lifetime membership. A Lifetime membership includes seats for four people in total: the owner plus three family members. That number is the starting point for everything else in this guide.

Each seat belongs to one person's own account. A family member who takes a seat signs in with their own email and their own password, chooses their own faith track, and keeps their own lessons, streak, and progress. There is no password sharing involved at any point, and no one signs in as anyone else. The seat connects two separate accounts: the owner's Lifetime membership is what grants Plus, and the member's own account is what receives it.

Reading and lessons in Faith Map are free for every account, with or without a seat. A seat matters because of Plus. What a seat gives the member is Plus status on their own account, for as long as the seat remains assigned to them.

How sharing works, step by step

Sharing runs on a code. There is no invitation email sent by Faith Map, and no link that activates anything by itself. The code is the mechanism, and both people use the same place in the app: Profile, then Family Seats.

For the owner

1. Open Faith Map and go to Profile, then Family Seats. 2. Generate a seat code for an available seat. 3. Share that code with the family member directly, by message or in person, in whatever way you normally communicate with them.

Keep the code within your family. Anyone who enters a valid code in their own account will occupy that seat until you remove them, so treat a code the way you would treat a spare house key: hand it to the person it is meant for.

For the family member

1. Create your own Faith Map account, or sign in to the one you already have. 2. Go to Profile, then Family Seats. 3. Enter the code exactly as the owner gave it to you.

Once the code is accepted, Plus is active on your account, though you may need to let the app reload before the status appears everywhere. Your track, lessons, and progress remain your own. Accepting a seat does not merge your account with the owner's, and the owner cannot see your reading or lesson activity through the seat.

You can see the layout of Profile and where Family Seats sits in it from Faith Map's learning view, which is also where your lessons and reading live once you are signed in.

What the owner controls

The owner manages the seats from Profile, then Family Seats. From there the owner can:

  • See the seats. Which seats are filled, and which account each filled seat belongs to.
  • Generate codes. One code for each seat being offered to a family member.
  • Remove a member. If a seat needs to go to someone else, or a member no longer needs Plus, the owner can remove that member from the seat.

Removal has two consequences worth stating plainly. First, a removed member returns to the free tier. They keep their own account, their track, and their progress, and they keep full access to everything that is free: scripture reading, all lessons, and the prayer tools. What ends is the Plus layer on that account. Second, the removed member's old code cannot be reused. If that person is ever to be seated again, the owner generates a new code.

A member can also leave a seat from their own account, which frees the seat for the owner to assign to someone else.

What members cannot do

Members cannot re-invite anyone. A seat gives the member Plus on their own account only; it does not give them seats to hand out. Only the Lifetime owner's own membership grants seats. If your household needs more people covered, that is handled by the owner's seat count, covered next, not by members passing access along a chain. A Yearly or Monthly Plus membership does not come with Family Seats to share; seats belong to the Lifetime membership specifically.

Adding extra seats

A Lifetime owner who needs to cover more than four people may add extra seats in the app. Up to three extra seats are available, at $19.99 each. That sets a hard cap of seven people in total on one Lifetime membership: the owner, the three included family members, and up to three added members.

Extra seats work the same way as the included ones. The owner adds a seat, generates a code from Profile, then Family Seats, and shares the code with the person it is for. That person enters the code in their own account, receives Plus on that account, and is managed by the owner in the same list as everyone else, including removal under the same rules. There is no difference in what an extra-seat member receives compared with an included-seat member.

What each member gets

A seated member gets full Plus, the same Plus the owner has. In practical terms that means:

  • Chapter narration listening. Hearing scripture chapters read aloud in the app. Reading the same chapters is free for everyone; the narration is the Plus feature, and a seat includes it.
  • Offline narration. Downloading narrated chapters to listen to without a connection.
  • Guided prayer audio. The narrated guided prayer experiences that belong to Plus. Listening inside the prayer library itself remains free for all accounts, seated or not.

Nothing about a seat is a reduced version of Plus. There is no separate member tier and no limit on which faith track a member may use. Each member chooses their own track independently, so one household can include people learning different traditions, each in their own account, each with full Plus. If a member is later removed, they return to the free tier described earlier, with account and progress intact.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can use one Lifetime membership?

Four people are included: the Lifetime owner plus three family members, each with their own account. The owner may add up to three extra seats at $19.99 each in the app, which brings the maximum to seven people in total on a single Lifetime membership.

Does a family member need to share my password?

No, and they should not. Every seat is the member's own account, with their own sign-in, track, lessons, and progress. The owner generates a code in Profile, then Family Seats, the member enters that code in the same place in their own account, and the seat connects the two accounts without any password being shared.

What happens if the owner removes me from a seat?

Your account returns to the free tier. You keep your account, your chosen track, and your progress, and you keep scripture reading, all lessons, and the prayer tools, which are free for everyone. The Plus features end on your account, and your old code cannot be reused if you are seated again later.

Can a member invite other people with their seat?
